On the top of the hill we find the ruins of the oldest monument undoubtedly the villa. Its construction is more primitive Roman and later was covered with new buildings and Visigoth and medieval walls.

The castle was surrounded by ancient ramparts of the town. in the lower part, had several doors as San Miguel, Santa Eulalia, Puerta Puerta del Monte and Sardina.

The Lisbon earthquake in 1755 led to the collapse of most of its walls to the caves area of Barrio de Santo Domingo.
